What the Topic Expansion Tool does

The Topic Expansion Tool runs every Tagzy discovery engine at once on a single topic, giving you expansions, long-tail directions, questions and hashtag candidates in one screen.

How it works

The same topic is passed through the expansion, long-tail, question and hashtag conversion routines. Each group is deduplicated and capped independently.

  1. 1Enter your starting topic.
  2. 2Set the per-group limit.
  3. 3Generate all four groups.
  4. 4Skim for directions you had not considered.
  5. 5Send the promising ones to a board or collection.

Worked example

'urban cycling' expands into 'urban cycling tips', 'urban cycling for beginners step by step', 'what is urban cycling' and #urbancyclingtips.

Who uses it

  • Opening exploration on a brand-new topic
  • Deciding whether a topic has enough depth
  • Producing one screen to discuss with a team
  • Feeding a Tag Board with starting material

Best practices

  • Use this first, then specialise with individual tools.
  • Keep only the directions you can genuinely cover.
  • Push survivors into a Tag Board for grouping.
  • Re-run with a narrower topic if output feels generic.

Honest limitations

Because four engines run at once, there is overlap between groups. Deduplicate after combining if you export everything.

Frequently asked questions

Why do groups overlap?
Different engines can produce the same phrase; deduplicate after merging.
Is this a replacement for the individual tools?
It is a starting overview; individual tools give finer control.
Can I export everything at once?
Yes, download the full result as TXT or CSV.
