How to Organize Social Media Tags
Use boards and collections to keep tags findable across channels and campaigns.

Group by purpose, not by post
Tags organised post by post become unusable within a month. Organise by purpose instead: core brand tags, niche community tags, campaign tags, location tags. Each group has a different lifespan and a different owner.
Use a board for visual work
When you are deciding which tags belong together, columns beat lists. Move tags between groups, rename the groups as your thinking changes, and export the board when it settles.
This is particularly useful for campaigns where several people need to agree on the same structure.
Keep one canonical set per channel
Each channel should have exactly one canonical core set. Everything else is a variation on it. Without a canonical set, casing and spelling drift until the same tag exists in four forms.
