What the Keyword Intent Classifier does
The Keyword Intent Classifier sorts keywords into four intent buckets by looking for well-known marker words such as 'buy', 'best', 'how' and 'login'.
How it works
Each keyword is tokenised and checked against ordered marker lists. The first matching rule wins; anything unmatched defaults to informational, which is the safest assumption.
- 1Paste the keywords you want labelled.
- 2Run the classifier.
- 3Read each intent bucket.
- 4Match content format to intent: guides for informational, comparisons for commercial, product pages for transactional.
- 5Export each bucket to its own collection.
Worked example
'buy running shoes' lands in transactional, 'best running shoes' in commercial, 'how to clean shoes' in informational.
Who uses it
- Deciding which page type to build for each keyword
- Separating money pages from top-of-funnel content
- Auditing whether a site over-indexes on one intent
- Prioritising a backlog by commercial value
Best practices
- Review the default informational bucket manually.
- Add missing marker words by editing keywords before running.
- Do not mix two intents on one page.
- Re-run after cleaning the list for better accuracy.
Honest limitations
This is a rule-based heuristic. Keywords without marker words default to informational even when the real intent differs, and Tagzy shows no search-engine intent data.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do the rules come from?
- A fixed, visible marker-word list applied in a set order — no external data.
- Why is everything informational?
- Your keywords contain no commercial or transactional markers, so the default applies.
- Can intent be mixed?
- In reality yes; this tool assigns one label so you can triage quickly.
